Swiss Village is pleased to announce Shawn M. Walsh as the new Vice President of Information Services. Walsh brings to Swiss Village a vast wealth of knowledge in Information Services. Currently, Walsh has been working as a consultant for Godlan, Inc. of Clinton Township, Michigan. Prior to this work, he was employed as a software developer for Smith Brothers Furniture, Inc. of Berne, and a consultant for New Hope of Indiana in Indianapolis. Walsh also served as a software specialist for Benchmark Human Services (AWS) of Ft. Wayne.
Walsh is a South Adams High School graduate and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. Walsh is a life-long resident of Berne and currently resides with his wife, Teri, of 21 years, and their son, Sam.
Walsh will begin working as the Vice President of Information Services on October 29, 2018. He will work alongside Joe Burkhead, the current Vice President of Information Services, and Tyler Hunley, I.T. Systems Technician, for a period before Burkhead makes the transition to retirement.
“I have two family members who are multi-year residents of Swiss Village – and my son has been employed there for over two years – so I have firsthand experience with the mission of Swiss Village and the superb quality of care provided to its residents,” said Walsh. “I have always been impressed with the attention and excellent care that my family members receive and how happy my son is to work there, so I jumped at the opportunity to become a member of the executive management team. With a career of nearly 30 years in computing technology and software development, I am excited to be able to draw on my experience to determine what existing technology makes sense – or create new technology where none exists – in order to better the lives of the residents and help the staff perform their jobs more easily and efficiently.”
“Shawn is going to make a huge impact and be a great addition to the management of Swiss Village,” said Rod Mason, President/CEO. “He is a man of high moral integrity and operational ethics, and certainly exemplifies a Christian walk! Known and admired by many locally, we look forward to the skillset and knowledge base he brings to the Swiss Village family.”
