Intergenerational Programing

I would like to share with you a link to a news story that was recently shared on ABC News. This story talks about the benefits of intergenerational programing in a nursing care environment. Swiss Village has offered this type of programing since 2001 with its onsite child daycare center Kinder Haus.

As a working mom, I have two girls who attend Kinder Haus. Of course every mom would like to be a stay at home mom, but the next best thing for our family is to have our girls receive care in this type of environment. Knowing that the residents are able to love and squeeze on my children while I am at work gives me great joy and peace of mind.

The children are able to provide so much for our residents that we as staff are not able. A smile, laughter, and a touch of child’s hand can make all of the difference. The stories that the residents are able to share with the children and the friendships that are formed are worth far more than money.
