
The Adams County 5K Run/Walk Challenge for the 2016 season held its first race on Saturday, April 9. Runners and walkers showed their dedication on a cold, snowy, and icy day for the Swiss Village 5K Lauf/Spaziergang. A special congratulations goes to Laurissa Dalrymple, of Granger, Indiana who won top overall female with a time of 20:07.1 and Owen Wanner, of Berne, Indiana who won top overall male with a time of 21:51.1. The series offers participants an opportunity to participate in a total of twelve races within Adams County. Participants must complete a minimum of eight of the twelve events to qualify for the series. There is still time to sign up for the series. Registration forms are available on the Adams County 5K Run/Walk Challenge website at www.adamscounty5kchallenge.com. The series fee covers registration to all events (including shirts from each). Runners entering the Challenge will automatically be pre-registered for all races in the series schedule. The cost to register for the series is $160. This is an $80 savings off the full price of all twelve races. Registration forms may be submitted to Jeannie Smith, 1000 North Adams Drive, Decatur, IN 46733.
Participation is open to anyone wanting to compete and is not limited to residents living in Adams County. The Challenge is limited to the first 100 entries. Runners / Walkers who do not pre-register for the series may still participate by signing up for individual events but will not receive the series discount.
