Staff Spotlight on Cathy Phillips

“I love my job, and I look forward to each morning when I come to work,” said Cathy Phillips, Kinder Haus Daycare Employee.
Swiss Village opened Kinder Haus Daycare in June of 2001. Cathy has been working as lead teacher in the child daycare since it’s opening. “I began working in daycare 31 years ago,” said Cathy.
Cathy received her Child Development Associate Degree from Ivy Tech. “I love babies,” said Cathy. “I love to cuddle them, sing to them and make them laugh.”
Daily, the infant room staff prepares approximately 30 bottles, changes 35 diapers, uses 55 burp rags, and puts fresh sheets on each crib. Currently five Swiss Village residents volunteer in the infant room to help rock the nine babies who attend. “We do all sorts of activities with the children to stimulate and challenge each child individually,” said Cathy.
“My favorite thing about working at Kinder Haus is that I am able to love, hold and rock each baby,” said Cathy. “To rock a sleeping baby is so precious and peaceful. I thank God for children daily.”
Cathy and her husband Bruce of 30 years are residents of Portland, Indiana. They attend Salamoni Christian Church where her husband Bruce is the Pastor. Together they have two daughters, Charissa Hambrock of Redkey and Stephanie Metz of Muncie. “We also have one granddaughter who is 4 years old,” said Cathy.
“I enjoy working with all of the children in the daycare,” said Cathy. “They give love right back to us.”
Swiss Village would like to thank Cathy for the years of service she has given to Kinder Haus Daycare, and for the many years to come.
