Alpenrose Place

The Alpenrose flower is native to the Swiss Alps.  Just as the Alpenrose flower needs a special ecological niche to flourish, so those with dementia need a special caring environment to thrive.

Alpenrose Place is a unique health care setting within Swiss Village that is dedicated to making a constructive difference in the lives of those who have a memory loss. It is specifically designed and staffed for residents who have functional limitations resulting from Alzheimer's Disease or other disorders that impair memory. Alpenrose Place is a secured environment that is well supervised with a high staff to resident ratio. While acknowledging the progressive nature of Alzheimer's and other memory loss diseases, the staff is committed to the preservation of the personal dignity of each resident and to providing life engaging opportunities for them for as long as possible.

Alpenrose Place helps residents participate in specialized activities, which include intergenerational programming, self-care programs that build on existing capabilities, non-pharmacological behavior therapies and reminiscent therapy. Swiss Village also reaches out to the family members of the residents in Alpenrose by including them in their loved one's interdisciplinary care planning, and offering a family support group.
