Swiss Village Retirement Community is adding a new building and is renovating the very first building that was opened for occupancy back in 1968. The two story addition is visible from Village Way and attached to the end of the original building that was opened 41 years ago. Combined the new building and the renovated areas provide a contiguous and enlarged Assisted Living area with 26 separate living units. Included within the new building are additional support areas for dining, activities and social events. Both areas will provide a state of art building to serve the growing needs for those needing assisted living. Construction started in May and is projected to be completed late summer 2010. Work is being staged in two phases, with the Assisted Living areas to be completed by May of 2010. The second phase will involve the renovation of the Administration Building. At the completion of the project the expansion will add 22,674 square feet and the renovation will impact 20,730 square feet of the existing structure. Construction has progressed extremely well and is currently ahead of schedule.

The Assisted Living area is being developed to serve the growing number of clientele that require increased supportive services. The facilities and programming will provide an enriched level of service that is intended to delay the need for nursing care. In addition it will allow married couples to continue to reside together longer in the event that one spouse requires increased assistance.

The individual units will range in size from 470 to 750 square feet. Each unit will include a kitchen area, living room and bed room with adjacent bathrooms. The units are designed to accommodate married couples.

Contractors performing the construction work include, Limberlost Construction, Liechty Brothers, L&L Electric, Frauhiger Excavation, VFP and LICA Construction. Morrison Kattman & Menze are providing the architectural oversight for the project.
